The production of white goods in Turkey, has accomplished a growth of 138.7% and has reached 12 million 363 thousand units during the last 5 years. Concurrently, the white goods exports have realized an increase of 289% and have reached 7 million 788 thousand during the same period. According to the data provided by the Association of the White Goods Industrialists in Turkey, white goods production in Turkey was realized as 5 million 179 thousand, and exports were realized as 2 million 1 thousand in 2000. In 2005, Turkey has exported 63% of its total white goods production, which amounted to 12 million 362 thousand units
Refrigerators take the first place in the exportation of white goods
In 2005, 5 million 538 thousand refrigerators, 4 million 382 thousand washing machines, 783,000 dishwashers and 1 million 660 thousand ovens were manufactured in Turkey. The export figures for last year concerning white goods, were as follows: 3 million 640 thousand refrigerators, 3 million 680 washing machines, 366,000 dish washers and 1 million 102 thousand ovens. Meanwhile, the import figures for the same products during the same year were as follows: 64,000 refrigerators, 113,000 washing machines, 200,000 dishwashers and 50,000 ovens. The domestic sales realized last year were, 2 million 108 thousand refrigerators, 1 million 831 washing machines, 629 thousand dishwashers and 622 thousand ovens.
Figures for the year 2000
The figures relating to 2000 for the white goods production were as follows: 2 million 446 thousand refrigerators, 1 million 343 thousand washing machines, 315,000 dishwashers, 1 million 39 thousand ovens. The export figures for the same period were as follows: 1 million 88 thousand refrigerators, 273,000 washing machines, 83,000 dishwashers and 557,000 ovens .
Import figures for the year 2000 were as follows: 233,000 refrigerators, 294,000 washing machines, 224,000 dishwashers and 57,000 ovens.
Meanwhile, during the January – February period of 2006, production of white goods was 1 million 941 units; imported white goods were at 89,000 units; domestic sales total was at 692,000 units, and exports total reached 1 million 225 thousand.
